Military Day Clinics

cylcing clinic for wounded militaryAdaptive Adventures offers opportunities in a variety of sports throughout the year. Our goal is to reacquaint warriors with sports and activities they once loved before their injury, as well as to introduce them to new activities that can maximize their current abilities. Adaptive Adventures specializes in outdoor sports. We offer: alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, sled hockey, kayaking, cycling, water-skiing, wakeboarding, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, camping, fishing, and sailing.

Teamwork is key on all Adaptive Adventures programsOur small group setting creates a comfortable, social atmosphere to facilitate social interaction and peer-to-peer bonding. Mentors play a key role at the camps. They provide a level of guidance, empathy, and inspiration that can only be derived from someone who has experienced a similar life situation.

Veterans KayakingAn event begins by identifying, contacting, and engaging wounded warriors. In some cases, warriors learn about Adaptive Adventures through our relationship with major military medical centers such as Balboa, Walter Reed, or Brooke Army Medical. Warriors may also learn about Adaptive Adventures at a Veterans’ Administration hospital, the Department of Defense State Liaison Office, veteran’s service organizations, or Disabled Sports USA. In some instances, it is a case manager, liaison officer, physical therapist, occupational therapist, or one of a dozen organizations or agencies with whom we have a partnership. Many warriors who attend our programs are either return participants or heard about Adaptive Adventures from their peers.
