29th Colorado Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp

Adaptive Adventures will offer a four-day cycling program at the Colorado Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp. The camp is organized by Colorado Sports for the Physically Challenged, Adaptive Adventures, and Aurora Central High School. Last year, more than 90 youth participants tried out the various types of adaptive cycling equipment.
Our 2012 Team will once again include camp favorite Matt Feeney. "This is my favorite event of the year," said Feeney. "There are so many great, enthusiastic kids at the camp...I can never get enough. What Mary (Carpenter) has done here is a lesson for all." This camp is special... it is a sports camp for the physically disabled, designed for children who use a wheelchair or could use a wheelchair so they are able to compete in sports.
The CJWSC enables disabled youngsters to enjoy the same experience a day camp provides to the able-bodied peers. The camp is open to youth with physically disabilities in grades 1-12 on a first-come, first served basis. Confirmation of acceptance and the transportation schedule will be sent to each camper in early June. As a result of numerous contributors, donations, grants and volunteers, this sports camp is offered at no charge. Adaptive Adventures is honored to be a growing part of this spectacular opportunity for disabled youth.
Campers: are grades 1-12, and have a physical disability that prevents them from participating equally with their able-bodied peers. Campers attend free of charge so that no deserving child is denied the chance to attend.
Sports: instruction includes archery, basketball, bowling, quad ruby, softball, swimming, tennis, road racing, track and field to name a few. Recreation and leisure activites may include bocce ball, theater movement, and power soccer.
Camp time: is 9:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday through Thursday with Friday set aside as Family Day. Campers attend three to four instructional sessions daily, exhibitions by world class wheelchair athletes, and off campus field trips. Lunch and snack is provided.
Staff: include instructors and counselors who have physical disabilities and have achieved national and/or international recognition in their sport(s).
