GLASA is excited to be hosting the 2nd Annual Great Lakes Regional Games this year!

Competition is for athletes 6 and up with a primary physical or visual disability, for beginners through elite athletes. Sports offered are archery, boccia, field, track, hand cycling time trials, and swimming. The meet is sanctioned by Wheelchair and Ambulatory Sports USA.

This meet will serve as a qualifier for those athletes aged 7-21 looking to go on and compete at the National Junior Disability Championships on July 17-24, 2010 in suburban Chicago.

Here is information you need on registration for the games, schedule, and hotel:

REGISTRATION FOR GREAT LAKES REGIONAL GAMES 2010

1. All GLRG 2010 participants must be current members of WASUSA. There are two types of memberships:

• A full membership. This is for any athlete who had previously been a member of WASUSA, and for any athlete who will be competing in more than just the Great Lakes Regional Games (for example, the National Junior Disability Championships in July). To register for a full membership, fill out WASUSA's online Member Application Form. The annual fee is $35 (plus $3 for each sports activity beyond 3).
• A recreational membership. This is offered only to first time WASUSA members who will only be competing at the Regional games.  This type of membership will not be sufficient for those looking to go on to NJDC.  It is a one year membership that allows the newer athletes a reduced fee.  This membership option is not listed on WASUSA’s website.  You must download and print out this Recreational Membership Form, fill it out, and mail it in with a check for the specified amount made out to WASUSA. Mail it to the GLASA office, attn: Keri Schindler, at 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest IL 60045. The fee is $5, plus $1 for each sport the athlete wishes to compete in.

2. Register for GLRG 2010. Complete the online registration form. (If possible, please use the online form to register for GLRG 2010. If you prefer using a hard-copy form and mailing it in, you can download that form at this link. Mail it to: GLASA, Attn: Keri Schindler, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest IL 60045)

3. Pay the GLRG Registration Fee. The registration fee is $30 per athlete, prior to May 3rd. In addition, the cost of the BBQ is $5 per person (the athlete plus guests / other family members, etc.). After May 3rd, please include a late fee of $10 per athlete. REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 4:00 PM ON MAY 14th, 2010.

• Use GLASA's PayPal account to pay online by credit card. Enter the total cost (GLRG Registration Fee plus $5 for each BBQ ticket), and follow the instructions.
• If you don't want to use PayPal, you may mail in your check to: GLASA, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest IL 60045. Indicate on the check which athlete(s) the payment is for.

4. Fill out and sign and date the waiver, and mail it to GLASA. You may download the Waiver PDF Form here. Send it to: GLASA, Attn: Keri Schindler, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest IL 60045.

5. If you are requesting classification in swimming, email Keri Schindler of GLASA at kschindler@glasa.org before May 14, 2010.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

2. Hotel Information. The hotel is the Hotel Indigo, 450 North Milwaukee Avenue, Vernon Hills, IL  60061  PH  847-918-1400.  The group rate is $84.00 per night plus tax for suites with either 1-king bed or 2-double beds and a sofa sleeper. Here is information on how to book your room:

* Book online, using the Hotel Indigo web site reservation service. Just select the check-in and check-out date, then click on “Check Availability”.

OR

* Call the hotel directly to book at 1-847-918-1400, and ask for "Reservations"
* When speaking to a reservation agent, let him/her know you are booking with the "Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association Group Block"
* A credit card will be required to guarantee reservations
* Hotel will accept cash or credit card for payment upon arrival
* Debit card holders:  Upon arrival, if you present a debit card at check-in, please be aware that the full amount for your stay will be authorized/debited at check-in.  If you anticipate any issues with your debit card, the hotel suggests using a credit card as your form of payment upon check-in.

* Cancellation policy is 72-hours prior to the scheduled check-in date.
* Reservations must be booked by Saturday, May 1st, 2010 to guarantee rates and room preference.  Reservations may be taken after the cut-off date, but room preference and rate are no longer guaranteed.
