A few highlights from the weekend:
Over 200 athletes compete in the various events boccia, swim, archery, track, field and handcycling
- Almost an 80% increase in the number of athletes involved in these games since last year
- approximately 170 of those athletes were from the Chicagoland area as part of Team GLASA, Team Rockford, RIC, Chicago Park District, FVSRA, LWSRA, NEDSRA, WDSRA and more! This is huge and so exciting for the athletes in our area
- Approximately 100 of the athletes competing have never competed at a WASUSA sanctioned regional games of that 100, 75 of those athletes have never compete in a competition of any kind
- several national records were broken at the pool!!
- Many athletes got their personal best times and many more qualified for NJDC!!
- over 80% of the people helping to run and organize the games were volunteers!
