Bob Johns
Board Member
Robert Johns has 40 years of experience in global business leadership in specialty chemical and novel materials. He is the managing principal of Summit Growth Solutions, LLC; a consulting group assisting firms in the global commercialization of advanced technologies.
His passion for serving others has been an important part of his life for the past 40 years. He is a co-founder of the Muter Outdoor Fund in Michigan, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing scholarships to college students, and outdoor experiences to middle and high school students. This organization’s mission is Engaging New Audiences in Michigan’s Rich Outdoor Heritage. Since 2018 they have given out 21 scholarships and collaborated donating 22 digital cameras and conducted numerous half-day classes teaching middle-high school students effective ways to photograph nature and the outdoor beauty in the Michigan Great Lakes Region.
Since 2014 he has been a selection judge for the CO OEDIT Advanced Industries Grant Program, and he has been coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs and innovators emerging from all the Colorado Universities. He also spent 2007-2008 living and working in Shanghai, China while in global leadership positions with Dow Corning Corp. In 1990-2007 he served two terms on the board of Junior Achievement, United Way of Mid-Michigan which included leading Dow Corning’s corporate campaign for two years. He served two terms, including board chair, on the board of Red Cross of Mid-Michigan.
Bob is an avid outdoor enthusiast while enjoying downhill skiing, golfing, and hunting. He has also been a competitive table tennis player since his teenage years. He was introduced to Adaptive Adventures when he was exploring adaptive equipment to enable individuals with physical disabilities. He joined the board of Adaptive Adventures in the Fall of 2022 and is passionate to add value and expand the community of corporate sponsors in support of the mission and exceptional programing offered by Adaptive Adventures.
