Mary Kate Anderson

Board Member

Mary Kate Anderson joined the Adaptive Adventures Board of Directors in July of 2026 and is honored to support an organization whose mission resonates deeply with both her personal experiences and lifelong belief in the power of sport, resilience, and community.

Professionally, Mary Kate has built her career in leadership, strategic partnerships, and business development, helping organizations grow through meaningful relationships and purposeful collaboration. She is excited to bring that experience to Adaptive Adventures and help expand opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities to discover confidence, independence, and connection through adaptive recreation.

Mary Kate‘s passion for Adaptive Adventures is rooted in her family’s story. Her brother lost his left leg after being struck by a drunk driver. Watching him navigate life after amputation gave her a firsthand understanding of both the challenges and incredible resilience that follow a life-changing injury. Although her brother later passed away, his strength, determination, and outlook on life continue to inspire her. Serving on the Board is one way she honors his legacy while supporting others as they discover that disability does not define what is possible.

A lifelong athlete, Mary Kate was a Division I soccer player and is an active Masters swimmer. She has always believed that sports have the unique ability to build confidence, create community, and remind us of what we’re capable of—lessons that perfectly align with the mission of Adaptive Adventures.

Raised across the US from Atlanta to Dayton to San Diego, Mary Kate now proudly calls Colorado home, where she lives with her husband, their two children, and their beloved dog. Family is at the heart of everything she does, and she treasures creating experiences that encourage curiosity, adventure, and time together.

When she’s not working or volunteering, you’ll likely find Mary Kate exploring Colorado’s mountains and trails, swimming, hiking, snowboarding, traveling, or chasing her next outdoor adventure with her family. She believes the outdoors have an incredible ability to heal, challenge, and connect people, and she’s proud to support an organization that makes those experiences accessible to everyone.
