Robert Johns

Robert has 40 years of experience in global business leadership in specialty chemicals and novel materials. He is the Managing Principal of Summit Growth Solutions, LLC; a consulting group assisting firms in the global commercialization of advanced technologies. Mr. Johns holds a BBA from Western Michigan University, and he is an alumnus of the Executive Development Program at Northwestern University, Kellogg School.  Since 2009 he also serves as a Senior Advisor to Strategic Marketing Innovations (SMI), a leading government relations firm located in Washington, DC.  SMI specializes in federal policy, congressional appropriations and helping research universities and private sector businesses in obtaining federal funding and their marketing to federal agencies.  

While pursuing his corporate career, Bob has been involved in a variety of non-profit and service organizations including: 

2017-2022 - Co-founder of the Muter Outdoor Fund in Michigan providing scholarship and outdoor experiences

2014-2022 - Selection judge for CO OEDIT Advanced Industries Grant Program 

2010-2022 - Coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs and innovators emerging from Colorado Universities 

2007-2009 - Lived and worked in Shanghai, China while in global positions with Dow Corning Corp  

1990-2007 - Served on board of Junior Achievement of Mid-Michigan

                  - United Way of Mid-Michigan, Dow Corning Campaign Chair and Loaned Executive

                  - Red Cross of Mid-Michigan.  Board member and board chair

A resident of Castle Rock, CO he enjoys time in the mountains skiing and fishing, and he has a passion for table tennis, pickleball and golf when time permits.  He and his wife have two adult children, one living in Colorado and one in Boise, ID. 

Bob is excited to be joining the Adaptive Adventures board and wants to leverage his professional network and experiences, to help the staff and many volunteers continue to provide exceptional programs in the pursuit of the mission of the Adaptive Adventures organization.  “I am highly impressed to see the years of success and focus to provide progressive outdoor sports opportunities for children, adults and veterans with physical disabilities.  I look forward to getting involved and adding value to this exceptional organization.”
