Jourdan O’Connor
CTRS, Program Manager
Jourdan found her love for adaptive sports during her first high school job, working at an ice rink in her hometown of Rockford, IL. A local group came to the ice rink for a fieldtrip and a young boy in a power wheelchair wanted to play hockey with his friends. Unable to transfer and propel himself in a sled, the boy was heartbroken as he watched his friends skate around the ice. Jourdan was determined to help this boy feel included. She put on her skates and pushed the boy in his wheelchair around the ice. His smile and laugh as he skated with his friends ignited her passion for adaptive sports.
From there, she went on to graduate from the University of Iowa, GO HAWKS, with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. As a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, CTRS, she has worked with several adaptive sports organizations, including the Rockford Park District, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Phoenix VA, and the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA). Jourdan started with Adaptive Adventures in April 2021 and is excited to bring her experience and knowledge to the AA Team!
In her free time, Jourdan enjoys any chance to enjoy the outdoors, whether its biking, boating, hiking, hanging poolside, or cheering on her Hawkeyes at Iowa football games. She loves to cook, bake, travel to concerts and festivals, or curl up with a good book. Jourdan loves spending time with her friends, family, and dog.
Jourdan has a passion for recreation and loves to share that passion by helping adaptive athletes reach their recreation dreams!
