Kevin Chambers
Adaptive Sports Coordinator
As an Adaptive Athlete and outdoor enthusiast himself, Kevin understands the power of the outdoors and physical movement for those living with disabilities and he hopes to bring the experience that he had to his fellow adaptive athletes.
Born, raised, and educated in Western Massachusetts, Kevin received his BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2019. While here, he spent his first summer as a rafting instructor at Crab Apple Whitewater on the Deerfield River and immediately fell in love with outdoor recreation.
After graduation in 2019, Kevin taught English abroad on the Caribbean island of Marie Galante in Guadeloupe. Upon returning home to the States, Kevin began working as an Aide in the Massachusetts State Senate while still raft guiding on the weekends.
Following a motor vehicle accident in 2021, Kevin underwent an elective below-the-knee-amputation in March of 2023. Now armed with a prosthetic leg, he got back to hiking, skiing, running, and the very next summer, professional raft guiding. In December of 2024, Kevin left the Massachusetts State House and began teaching with the Bionic Project, teaching students of all ages and abilities across New England how to talk about disability and what it means to be an ally. As of March 2026, he has started as the Adaptive Sports Coordinator with Adaptive Adventures at the home office in Westminster, CO.
Kevin is also a certified Wilderness First Responder, a member of the USA Amputee Soccer Association, and an advocate for the So Every Body Can Move legislative initiative.
