Greg joins us with a background in Recreation and Park Management with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation from Illinois State University. Greg’s passion for sport and recreation was the driving force behind his path towards inclusive opportunities for everyone regardless of their abilities or disabilities. His philosophy is that everyone should have an equal chance when it comes to play and leisure.
Greg has over twelve years of experience in adaptive sports in both clinical and community recreation settings. His career started at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and then transitioned to a special recreation association for the next several years before joining Adaptive Adventures as the Chicagoland Program Director in 2016. Greg is part of various committees advocating accessibility, inclusion and adaptive sports locally and nationally. He spent two years as the Chairman for the Illinois Therapeutic Recreation Society’s Adaptive Sports Committee where professionals met monthly to discuss trends, collaborations and future goals. Greg currently sits on the Advisory Boards for the Forest Preserves of Cook County and the Lyft/Divvy adaptive bike share project in Chicago.
Greg holds current certification as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional, Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer and Paralympic coaching certifications in adaptive archery, boccia and powerlifting. He plans on building onto his credentials and continue to develop professionally in the field. Greg’s passion for physical activity and fitness has connected him with the American College of Sports Medicine where we currently holds a professional certification in inclusive fitness training.
Greg was born and spent much of his early childhood in Chicago’s north side and currently resides in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Layla. Greg enjoys the outdoors with his favorite activities being baseball, snowboarding and bike riding but also loves attending live outdoor music shows with his family and friends.
