Volunteers are the foundation of Adaptive Adventures. Our organization has a very small professional staff supported by over 350 volunteers. We have onsite volunteers who work with our program and events team on everything from training and instruction to event coordination and planning. We also have volunteers who conduct research, write grant proposals, develop new programs, assist in fundraising, work on the website, develop and implement marketing and public relations campaigns, write press releases, and provide administrative support.
We thank you for your interest in Adaptive Adventures. To begin, please fill out the Registration Form and someone will contact you to get you involved in fulfilling our mission of providing progressive outdoor sports opportunities to improve the quality of life for children, adults and veterans with physical disabilities and their families.
As a volunteer with Adaptive Adventures, you will have the opportunity to interact with people of all abilities and take advantage of the many activities we offer. While we have sporting events all over the country, our main focus is in Colorado and the Greater Chicago Area. In the winter we have alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding while in the summer we offer kayaking, cycling, wakeboarding, and sailing. Whether it is assisting a participant in an outdoor activity, helping in the office or spearheading a special event, we encourage you to become involved in the areas that most interest you.
Adaptive Adventures programs are fun for both the participants and the volunteers. It is hard not to have fun while skiing, paddling, cycling, or volunteering in any of the other activities. Many volunteers have been heard saying, "I get just as much out of the program as the participant does." Most volunteers are not sure what to expect when they first get involved, but end up enjoying it so much they come back year after year.
